A year is a mighty long time for a creative event in Bham and damnit Fly Dave has got a winner! This past Wednesday, Jan 4, 2012 marked the gig's 365th day of existence. The Groove Jam Session started at The Safari Cup, then finally making its home at The Plum Bar (Downtown Birmingham). A cool atmosphere where you may purchase an adult beverage of your liking and hear some of the best vocalists, musicians, poets etc Alabama has to offer. Artists such as Ruben, Laura Luke, Logan, Yung Vokalz, Kibibi Jones (to even your auntie) have graced the stage with the likes of Kerry Marshall, Fly Dave, Squeeze, Brian Hall, Dave Crenshaw on drums, guitar and keys. Every first and third Wednesday Birmingham can stand a little taller when the Groove Jam Session kicks into gear. See you there!

On Seeing H.E.R I, too, felt the shame of not knowing who she was... We can overcome this void, together, though. We can stand proudly in this new wave of R&B and let H.E.R. be a guiding force. H.E.R, a 21 year old from California, graced UAB's Springfest stage tonight...and it was divine! She embodied the essence of Erykah and the energy of Prince as she played her lead guitar and then at times switched to keyboard.
